  12. Not exactly the same but maybe helpful.  I too got the message that computer doesn;t recognize modem 
  13. when using WfW3.11 with Spry Office on a PPI PM288MT II v34 though I don't get this message when 
  14. using my  PPI 14.4ooFxMT.   I could retry many times and finally one would work and I'd connect. 
  15. But too irritating abnd no help from PPI.  My temporary work around is that I've deleted the Spry 
  16. initialization string after noting that it only set to values in the stored profile and have a simple 
  17. initialization string of reset modem ATZ and use stored profile 1 AT&F1.  Try it.  I'm not 
  18. knowledgable but desperation made me try this on the 288, it may work on your 144.

  20. Incidentally, I found the 144 has an ATI6 command which after you're disconnected tells you what 
  21. your modmem to modem speed was on the last connnection and what compression you're set for.  
  22. Wish they 288 still had that.
